Back in 1950, it wasn’t easy to find the job you wanted. But Ray was de-termined to continue in his chosen trade as a furniture finisher. He applied to Sloane’s, the company of his choice, but there were no openings at the time. Several months later, he was overjoyed to receive a phone call and hear that there was an opportunity in the finish shop of the warehouse. Since then - moving with the warehouse from East 29th Street to Rutherford, N. J. - he’s been with Sloane’s.
Throughout his 25 years of service, Ray’s diligence and steadfast attention to his work has earned the respect of his co-workers. Those who know Ray have appreciated his quiet, calm attitude. As one fellow worker commented - “Rain, snow, sleet or shine, Ray is a wonderful guy.” We know he’ll continue being just that for many years to come.
Congratulations and Best Wishes!
For the record:
Served in the Navy for nearly 4 years seeing action in the southwest Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Santa Fe. (enlisted at 16)
Married (wife’s name, Mary)
Two daughters, both married. One is a special education teacher.
Favorite pastime: baseball.

Definitely the coolest thing I’ve found this year. Still bittersweet though knowing he worked about another 10 years for them before they closed their doors with the money he put into a pension. But I like favorite pastime: baseball, especially since he barely paid attention to sports.
